Week Three: Online Meetings

I was alittle frustrated as 2 of the archived webinars I wanted to view would not play. I decided to view the webinar on RSS feeds, hosted by Meredith Farkas & Paul Pival. It gave me an understanding of "what" RSS feeds are & how to utilize them. RSS feeds would be beneficial for reading the newspaper, as you can subscribe to only the parts you are interested in....ex: world & local news, etc. I believe this technology will be used more & more into the future.

Week Two: Online Communities

I have a "facebook" account!! Yea!! My oldest daughter responded, "My mom is on facebook....what is the world coming to??" My youngest daughter was the first to write on my wall....If it weren't for 23 things Kansas, I still wouldn't be in the "world" of facebook!! I chose facebook because most people I know have it AND can help me through this learning curve. One thing I do like about it is keeping up with friends & family. One thing I do not like is having an overwhelming number of messages coming in on my wall all the time!! I guess you get to a point where you just don't read it all, all the time! I have only corresponded with a few people so far.....I don't know if I will continue using it in the future. I believe our library is either working on establishing an account or already has one? I think it could be very beneficial to libraries joining a "library network" of online communities.
